Default Auto Adjusting lights etc.

Hey everyone, I just purchased a 2006 audi a4 2.0T with manual transmission, and I have two or so questions. I do want to apologize if these questions where answered in the past and if they have, please direct me to the answers!

1. Why wouldn't my lights auto adjust when I turn and when I'm flat?
2. What are the main problems with these cars that I should have my mechanic take a look at? I just like to know beforehand, or would it be beneficial to just go to my local audi dealer and have them take a look at it?

I had a 98 audi a4 before this, and that car ran like a champ until my tranny went. Please let me know, and any other info you can throw in would be much appreciated! Thanks again!

Have to have Bi-Xenon lights for any auto-adjust capability - search autolevel in this forum.

Main issue folks have seen is cam follower/fuel pump. Also coilpacks, PCV, timing belt if mileage is getting up; oil changes with synthetic only on a regular basis.

2006 is getting on to 6 years old, so definitely worht having someone you trust check things out for you. A good independent will be less expensive than the dealer.

Good luck...

Thanks a bunch for the info, I found a receipt in the car that the fuel pump was already replaced. I'll have a friend take a look at it that works on audis. Thanks again!

If you have Xenon headlights, you should have auto adjust (pretty sure of that). But maybe some Xenon's came without the feature. Point your car at a wall, turn on the lights, then turn on the car. You will see them adjust if you have them.

Of those, cam follower (and attendant issues), coilpacks, and PCV have either an extended warranty or a replacement program. Also, the extended warranty applies to the intake flap motor.

Always use synthetic for sure.

I'd recommend an inspection by an independent mechanic. Depending on mileage, you should also check control arms to see if they need to be replaced (lower more so than upper).
