Default B7 Scratched windshield

I am not sure how that happen (I thought those windshields are more durable) but this morning going to work, I turned on my wipers and windshield got scratched pretty bad across the whole surface and not only one spot, but at least 10.
My question is, is there a way to repair it my self or is there a shops that can do that for me and not going to make it worst.
Atlanta area, if any one is familiar, thank you in advance.

Are you sure it's actually scratched and not just dirt or something? I mean it takes a lot to scratch a windshield. A lot of windshield repair companies use some sort of apoxy to fill certain cracks, but I don't know about scratches. I'm not sure what type of do-it-yourself repair would work for something like that.

Yes, it is scratched, I checked many times, I think it is a combination of cold weather and sand/dirt from the roads between the wiper blades and the window. I am still looking for a way to repair, really don't want to replace the whole windshield.

Try using 0-0-0 steel wool pads. Start at the lowest scratch area first and see if it helps.

Good Luck

There are several places that do windshield repair....Safelite, AAA (if you belong), Glass Doctor etc.....So maybe call them and see if they can give you an estimate or idea on what you can do other then replacing the whole windshield. There are repair kits you can buy at an auto parts store, but they are usually for cracks and rock hits.

Good luck

Depends how deep the scratches are. Run your finger nail accross the scratches and if your nail catches catches, then the windshield probably can't be repaired [properly].

The rubber in the center part of my passenger side windshield wiper came detached from the wiper arm and the exposed metal part of the blade ended up scratching/scoring my windshield.

While you can find glass repair kits on-line, I had mine repaired (buffed out) by a glass repair specialist - took him about 45 minutes using a buffing device and special chemicals (sealant?). My dealer paid for the repair because my car was new and the wiper blade/rubber became detached for no apparent reason, but I think it would otherwise have been a $150-200 fix.
