Buying my First Audi... Can I negotiate the lease?
hey all
i am about to become a first time Audi owner as i will be leasing an 06 A4.
the lease options given to me were as follows:
1. $537 down, $469/month for 24 months.
2. $1138 down, $442/month for 24 months.
My questions are... first, do these prices sound fair and second, can i try and bargain that down (this may sound naive, but this will be the first car i have ever bought myself).
thanks all for the help.

Re: Buying my First Audi... Can I negotiate the lease?
need alot more info
1. price of the car?
2. who's lease deal is this? Third party or with Audi? Audi has a 24 month program going on now with around 1400 down and 369 a month (no taxes) - works out to around 399 a month with the tax rolled in. This is with 10k a year.
3. what does the "down" going towards?

Re: Buying my First Audi... Can I negotiate the lease?
sorry...
this price is from Huntington Audi in NY. Lease is for 12k miles/year, premium and sunroof package...
the $537 down would just be the 1st month payment; the $1138 would be 1st month and bank fees.

Check that Audi lease again..it says in small character:
TAXES AND FEES EXCLUDED.
That means that you have to add them to get to that payment.
Every state is different.
Here in Tx, if you don't pay them its about $70 more.

YES, negotiate a lease price!
Don't pay more than $1,300 over invoice. The dealer will show you the invoice sheet if you're serious about buying. Find out current money factor and residual value. Money factor multiplied by 2400 should be less than 3.5% and residual around 70%. Be sure to select the miles you need per year: 10, 12, 15k are standard. Re: YES, negotiate a lease price!
is it rude to ask to see the dealer's invoice? can i get these figures off something like Yahoo Autos (they have MSRP and invoice prices)?
i am pretty clueless about this, as you can tell...
Yahoo says that the invoice is 28,769 and the MSRP is 30,940... i am assuming this does not include the premium and sunroof packages that were factored in for my car.
i guess what i am asking... when i go back to the dealer with my car for trade-in on Friday, do i just sit down and ask to see his invoice, and then tell him that i want the car but the price needs to come down?
thanks a million

Yes, you ask for the invoice and say, "how much over invoice can I get this for?". Tell him $1,000 over invoice for an 06 A4 is fair and work towards that. You can use websites to get invoice and MSRP for all the options -- compare them to the dealer sheet, they usually match up.
Trading in your old car will always benefit the dealer. I sold my old 1999 Maxima in two weeks for $9,500 -- the dealer would only give me $7,000 for it. With two transactions taking place they can always make the new one look great. Use kbb.com to compare private party value to trade-in value for a good starting place. Sell it on your own if it's worth anything.
If you make gobs of cash then these things may not matter to you. Otherwise, it's good to learn how to buy/lease a car and get a good deal. Bringing an experienced friend with is probably worth while.

The price sounds average
My store is on the south shore but the situation is the same all over the northeast. At present we have only 1 or 2 A4 2.0s and half the incomming cars are sold. With demand being so high at this time you probably wonth be able to do much better.
