k03 is really not all that bad Pretty reliable and does the job.

and RARELY have I heard that a turbo just failed. Further more, many K03 powered cars are modified and turbos still last if well maintained. The only problems with K03s that I ever heard off where in 2.7T application and that was due to poor placement rather than the turbo itself and mostly became evident when modded. You should check your sources.

Proper warmup and cool down, along with proper maintenance, will keep the K03 happy for a very long time. If not, then yes, it's going to have a short life.
