Default Carbonio CAI's vs Oettinger's CAI "Ram-Air" kit

Hi, there seems to be a lot of happy Carbonio CAI customers of this forum, but I have managed to find answers to a couple of questions, so here's hoping you can help.

From the thread below and accompanying pic posted by bhvrdr, it looks like a "Pipercross foam filter" is used.
Don't these type of filters require oiling?
if so, won't the oil ultimately mess up the MAF sensor?
Has anyone tried, or even heard of the Oettinger CAI system? Apparently it uses a dry filter system similar to the stock filter, but works as well as the Carbonio.

Carbonio Installation

Default according to their (Carbonio) web site it does...

Got this from the FAQ's...

How often should I wash the filter?

The filter (depending on how dirty it is where you drive) should be washed approximately every third oil change. Be sure to use a proper cleaning and "OILING KIT" to ensure that the filter lasts as long as it can.

Carbonio FAQ's

Default My understanding is that some models do, some don't. Supposedly B7 A4 doesn't.

It's dependent on the filter element.

Default I agree with gorobei. The B7 A4 model doesnt require oil though. Some other Carbonio...

products use a KN style filter that requires oil. The A4 design is awesome IMO. I like the filter much better. The S4 one is a KN cone.

Default "Performance" air filters are pure junk...save your $$$. No proof of better performance...

But you can expect shorter engine life.

Default I have some info on the A3 kit...

As you can see, it looks a lot like the Carbonio kit for the A3/GTI.
I can't find any info on the A4 kit at the moment but the local dealer assures me he can get it.

http://www.oettinger.de/news.php?lang=1&id=324</a
