Audi tells me the oil needs to meet the VW502 spec. I can't seem to find anywhere where the Castrol Edge 5w30 can meet this spec. I did find that the 5w40 meets that spec, but not the 5w30?
I have an 2012 A5 2.0T. Does anyone have a URL that gives me this information? Thanks

AF, if you are in the USA, you can get Castrol or Mobil 1 0W40 oils at Walmart. The Castrol 5W40 oil used to be found at Autozone. Not sure if that's still the case. All these oils meet VAG 502.00 spec.

(The oil specs are always going to be printed on the bottle.)

I can buy the Castrol 5w30 edge for $27/5 gallon right now on Amazon (prime day). The 5w40 stuff is over $50, so won't buy that. The 5w30 or 5w40 ia acceptable with Audi as long as it is 502. Can't find anything on the web about the 5w30. I assume if the 5w40 meets the 502 spec, then the 5w30 should also. Does anyone know for sure?

FWIW, I purchase most of my oil from Walmart since they frequently sell Mobil1 0w40 for far less than Amazon.

I tried the Castrol website and it came back with no recommendation for my car. Seemed kind of strange. I will call Castrol tomorrow and see see what they say.

The 5W30 Castrol that meets 502.00 may be dealer-only in the USA. That is not an oil we would see at the local auto parts store.

edit: Amazon has the Castrol 5W30 oil for $11/quart.
