Daytime running lights on A4s without Tech Pkg?
Is there a VAG COM fix to enable DRL? A client wants that on his 2006 A4, always on, so he doesn't need the on/off button. His doesn't have the Tech Pkg.

Thanks for that question. Please tell my why you don't want them.
They undoubtedly increase safety. What is wrong with that?
BTW, I like your sig picture! Totally cool!

DRLs are only in front and not like drive lights.
They are meant for bright daylight, not only when it gets darker or rains. Plus, a DRL will cause less fuel consumption than a full drive-light-on situation.
I agree with having the option, but that would require to add a switch. It is simpler to just modify the computer programming.
WRT your sig picture, how did you do it? Is it difficult to build such a gif and what software is required? I really like it and would like to experiment.

hmmm.... all good points
as for the sig.....
2 pictures of my car one with the lights off one with the lights on
put them on separate layers in adobe photoshop
then i opened it in adobe image ready and faded the lights on and off using this as the basis
lights on layer 100% opacity (hold for 2 seconds)
lights on layer 75% opacity (hold for .06 seconds)
lights on layer 50% opacity (hold for .06 seconds)
lights on layer 25% opacity (hold for .06 seconds)
lights on layer 0% opacity (hold for 2 seconds)
lights on layer 25% opacity (hold for .06 seconds)
lights on layer 50% opacity (hold for .06 seconds)
lights on layer 75% opacity (hold for .06 seconds) (and it automatically loops)

That means, I need something like photoshop.
I just bought a D-SLR, so I might as well invest in software to work with the images. Does it ever end?
Thanks for the instructions and I think I understand what you are saying.

You might want to check the Canadian forum
DRL's are mandatory in Canada, so you may find someone on that forum who has a VAG code to turn them on and off. (On the A4, this is a VAG item, not an old-fashioned hardwired connection.)
FWIW, I hate DRL's and wouldn't want them. I cannot tell you how many times I've forgotten to turn on my headlights at night while driving rental cars because the light coming from the DRL's helped me to forget that I had never turned on the headlights myself. Not only do you end up driving in the dark with lights that are fairly useless, but you also end up moving about with your taillights off.
That, and I really **don't** want to be more conspicuous when I'm driving a little bit above the speed limit. (Not that I would ever do such a thing, I'm just thinking hypothetically...)

Yes it's a VAG setting
Not sure why you want them though if the law doesn't require them.
It's funny, countries that require them we don't want it. Countries that don't require them, people want it.
Personally I just turn on the headlights as they're more noticeable especially if I'm in a lane coming up to slow people on the highway.
