Does mid-grade fuel decrease mileage on 2.0T?

People see the price difference between grades, but they don't actually do the math...
I was completly on "E" today and it cost me $65 to fill my tank with "premium". The cheapest gas I could've put in was $.11/gal less than premium. A fvckin $1.65 difference!!

Some people are so wealthy they don't have to think about gas prices even when prem. reaches...
$4.39/gal and soon to probably hit over $5/gal during peak summer months.
According to the manual you can use as low as 87oct if that's all that is available where your at at the time but if you have 91-93 it's best to pay the extra coin and use it.
It's amazing the dynamics of all the inflated prices from all the speculators bidding up crude oil and commodities. Hopefully the bubble will pop, wipe out all the speculators and return to natural levels. But I don't see it happening anytime soon.

Agreed totally... but my point is:
If people knew and understood that putting low octane fuel in a car that requires high octane fuel will return lower horsepower, lower fuel economy, and risk damage to the engine... they wouldn't even consider it.
But as this forum proves; most people are not that technical, and from their perspective, it might look like wasting money.
We should help them understand rather than flame them like a fat kid in middle school. (not that you did)
