brand shouldn't matter...
the brand shouldn't matter since all SD cards *SHOULD* adhere to flash memory industry standards. the only thing i could think of that would even matter is how it's formatted. and that's something that can be modified once you get it home.

what you said should be true but its not always true...
sometimes cheaper brands products aren't read well by readers...
ive had this problem with my computers card reader and also my camera... for now on whenever im getting any kind of card im going with sandisk.

your case could be due to a few different reasons...
that problem may be more to do with transfer rates rather than quality. i'm not recommendeding going with some generic no-name brand. i typically go with a reliable name over something that is needlessly more expensive. price doesn't always equal better qulity.
you also have to factor in all the variables when you mix and match hardware -- sometimes 2 pieces of hardware just don't work well together. and it boils down to trial and error.
