EPC and check engine

Ok, muggy as heck here in the south, 2006 a4 sixspeed with apr, came out to start car, EPC light on. Shut car off, then EPC plus check engine light. (no flashing light, just this).
Restarted car after leaving it sit in engine off position for 1 hour, same, EPC, check engine light.

I am assuming i need a reflash.

Advice?

EPC can come on when there are ECU troubles, so maybe. Have you scanned it for codes?

had similar problems with our 06 Tip, greatly affected tranny function, and thus driveability.

Nothing concrete was found on scanning, several small possibilities, nothing panned out, and went away. Reflash with the stock program and see if the problems return. But yeah, get a readout of any codes that are there first.

VAG it....did it stall, back fire or missfire before the EPC light coming on?

I get the EPC after extended idle

No other lights...just the "EPC".

If I start the car and let it run for about 15 minutes or so without driving it, I will get the EPC light. When I finally do drive off, it goes out. No idea why...car does not seem to be affected in any way at all. Interestingly, it does not seem to do it in the cold (i.e. winter), but it will occasionally throw an EPC light in the summer.

I had this problem too. Dealership said it is normal. (not sure if dealership knows what is going on)

UPDATE EPC and check engine

Black Forest Industries in Cary NC,

Code thrown is EPC and points to audi to reflash. Which wipes out my APR which they will reflash to bring me the return of APR upgrade.

2nd code (seems to be the checkengine) shows fuel pressure regulator? and will need to be investigated.

Flow Audi Greensboro (stay away from Leith Audi in Cary) will hook me up on Saturday morning. Car is running normal but lights are still on.

Also a note: the recall by Audi on the EPC we ignored to keep the APR intact. Looks like we need to do the recall anyway.
