So the car has definately gone into some sort of LIMP mode. Got a Check engine light on my way home from work last night. No boost and it is jerky under my extremely cautious acceleration. Idles fine, and at a cruising speed still feels perfectly normal.
I am making an appt to put in on the VAG-COM tomorrow, until then my thinking is that if I drive cautiously, it should be O.K. Any damage going to be done has already occured???

If CEL is not blinking you can drive, if it's flashing, do not drive it

I had never heard that before, what does it mean if it is flashing???
The only time I have seen it come on, it flashes for about 10 seconds then goes solid.

Happens when there's a dead cylinder because of a coilpack going up in smoke, sometimes literally!
