Getting APR chip tuning today
I'm hoping the car will feel like the '01 S4 Avant I had.
I can't help but laugh at a co-worker asking me questions about this. He doesn't understand why I am having performance modifications done to my car after I waited 3 months for a car to be specially made for me.

rrr... I'd say a chipped 2.0T is about on par with a stock B5 S4
you'll need a helluvalot more than a chip in the 2.0T to get anywhere near the power of a chipped B5 S4.
Downpipe, exhaust, intercooler, upgraded fuel pump, and aggressive GIAC file for starters.

I like being able to take off quickly
I'm not driving fast on the roads, but I enjoy taking off quickly and having some fun on highway ramps. When I get around to going to a track again, it will be nice having the extra power.
As for the Mazda, it did what I needed it to do, transportation. I was considering the Impeza and the Mazda3 at the time. Engine performance seemed to be about the same in the two. The Impreza had better handling, but the Mazda3 had a much nicer interior. So much so that I was willing to sacrifice some handling for it. The Mazda3 wasn't bad in the winter, but you certainly couldn't expect it not to lose traction. Last winter was particularly bad, but that was my fault for trying to get through the end of the lease without changing tires. The Mazda3 was fine, but I think the interior on the Impreza has caught up enough that I wouldn't sacrifice Subaru's AWD for the interior.
