Default Glass breakage alarm

When I test drove the A4 in 2000 & 2001, I was told to push a switch to turn off the glass breakage alarm if I left my dog inside the car.

I bought a 2006 A4 but I didn't see any switch like that. I couldn't find anything on the owner's manual either.

Did they take this feature away? If so, does it mean the alarm will not be ste off if someone breaks the windows?

Thanks.

Default it wasnt a glass break alarm

it was a motion detector. it was on the B column, by the driver's seat down near the base.

you would press it if you were leaving a dog in the car, or if someone was sitting in the car, that way the motion alarm wouldnt get set off.

far as i know, the motion detectors are gone from our car

Avants have glass break wires in the rearmost side windows, sedans have nothing

Default They are NOT defrosters .... some are antennas, some are glass break wires (more)

If they were defrosters then the last few days when all my windows have been white with frost and I've had the defroster turned oin then they would have cleared - and they DON'T. And it's not because they are broken - it's the same on the 5 A4/S4/RS4 Avants that I've owned.

Some of the wires ARE antennas, for TV and AM/FM, but some are for glass break - check out the erWin Audi wiring diagrams for proof ...

Default Why would they only put "glass breakage wires" in the little rear side windows??

you couldn't get to the door locks or anything through one of those windows. They'd probably be the least likely to be broken out of all of the windows in the car...

Default Because they're quite big on an Avant, and they're out of range of the interior sensors ...(more)

... so someone could break them and take your stuff out from the area behind the rear seats without triggering the alarm if they didn't!
