headlight question
I ordered the package w/o the navigation stuff which included bixenon lights is it easy to install the bixenons? Or rather is it just a matter of
installing bixenon ballasts, new headlamp, and bulbs? What about the feature that supposedly turns the headlights into the turns?
BTW its a red 3.2 avant.

The navi+ and headlights are separate options...I'm confused how you
ordered "the one w/o..." If you didn't get it my guess is you will have the world's largest hassle to install them aftermarket. Yes they are adaptive, meaning they turn into the turn before you.

Well you can install them for sure
But the adaptive part will not work. The level sensers work by linking with your suspension, parts your car is not equiped with, nor will you be able to retrofit easily. ECS Tuning will have Ecode headlights soon for sale, I would wait for them to hit the market. Thel ight output will be nicer, crisper, and cleaner anyway.

Well, apparently when we ordered at Maplewood imports the salesman said that in order to get bixenons you need to order the navigation package. Well it was called the luxury package or something along those lines.
I've got a month and a half before the car arrives. Apparently avants are given on a quota basis to the dealerships, so we have to wait for the next quota.
Hmmm...it sounds like the adapatble feature is out of the question without mucho $$$

On 05.5's (US), HIDs come with lighting pkg...
The lighting package requires premium. You do not have to get Nav to get the lighting pkg, nor do HIDs come with the Nav package.
As others have said, you will probably be able to install OEM Xenon headlamps / housings later, but you probably won't have the control modules necessary for auto-leveling and adaptive lighting..my suscpicion that the cost will exceed the ~$1400 cost of just getting the lighting package when you order the car.
The 2006 packages are different, so I don't know if that's what your salesdroid is talking about. Regardless, if your Avant arrives in 1+ month, it's not a 2006 model anyway (US, Canadian models are already 2006s).
Buy what you want, not what the sales man has on 'allocation'...it also helps to call around to check other dealers. Some dealers won't actually do an inventory search of other dealers, preferring to sell from their own inventory.

need premium package
I have the premium package on mine and I like it alot, according to the audiusa.com car builder, premium + lighting is $2850. I think it was worth it for me, as a sunroof was a requirement and that only comes with the premium package. The other features are nice as well.

Well Carousel didn't have any avants in red. Ironically, both are owned by the same guy. Carousel Audi/Porsche and Maplewood Imports (Porsche, Audi, MB) are the only two audi dealers in the state.
Oh well, I'd rather custom order and get exactly what I want.
