Axxis ultimates would be a fairly inexpensive upgraded pad for the B6.
I'd try fronts-only first just to see if you feel as if it does anything significant for your tastes.

here's the scoop from my A4 SSP, rear brakes are derived from S4...
specifically the calipers, but use a slightly smaller piston (41mm vs ??? in S4), and use a solid rear disc(288mm x 12mm). The front rotors are 320mm x 30mm, not sure what front components are from the S4. Just wanted to clear that up.
