Default Keys and Memory

Are the keys tied to memory? I believe that when I put each key in the ignition I should get certain climate settings. What about radio settings? Are there different presets for each key?

And what about the driver's seat and mirrors? I know there's memory for these settings, and I can operate the switches, but is there any sort of process that sets the driver's seat automatically when a specific key is used to unlock the car, for example?

Default Yes you can tie keys to memory

Check the manual but if you have memory seats you can tie the setting to your key. You can also tie in the climate control settings. I do not think you can do the radio settings. The manual states how to assign a memory setting to a key, it is rather simple.

I don't recall being able to set the climate control to the key... how is this done? In the mean time I'll check the manual again.

I think the car stores separate climate settings for each key.

With the settings tied to a key, how does it operate? Does the seat move automatically when you unlock or start the car?

Default When you unlock the car with your key, the seat reverts to that memory position when you open

the driver side door.

Default That's not what I'm seeing...

That's not exactly how it works for me.

The way I expected it to work was that you associate key A with, say, position 1. Then, every time you open the door with key A the driver's seat would go to position 1. Therefore, there would be a total of 4 maximum positions, and each key could be assigned to one of them.

However, what I'm seeing is this: Once you associate a key with a button, then whenever you open the door with that key it will revert to the position the seat was in when you last locked/unlocked the car with that key. Thus, there are 8 positions: one for each button, and one for each key.

I'm interested in two positions per driver: one for entry exit, and one to snug in and drive. I'd like it if the seat always went to the entry/exit position when I unlock it with my key, and then I could put it in the driving position after I'm seated. But this will only work if I remember to put it in the entry/exit position every time I get out.

If I forget, and manage to extricate myself in the driving position, then the next time I unlock the door the seat will move to the driving position, and I'll have to manually put it in the entry/exit position before climbing in.

Default Seat memory explained

I spent about fifteen minutes playing with both remotes to figure this out. Maybe it'll save someone else the trouble...

The car stores one driver's seat position on each button, plus one for each linked remote. The numbered buttons retain whatever position is saved on them, but the remote positions update every time you move the seat while operating on the respective remote. I can find no correlation between the button the remote is linked to and the seat position assigned to that button.

When you open the door with a linked remote, the driver's seat will go to the last position set while that key was used.

If you press a numbered memory button while the door is open, the seat will go to that position. If the door is closed, however, you must hold the button down, or the seat will stop moving.

I sit pretty high when I drive, and my knees would not clear the steering wheel when I get in and out. So I have programmed two positions, #1 and #3. #1 is the snug, driving position, while #3 is pushed back and down for easy entry/exit. My remote is linked to button #1, but I don't think any of this is affected by which particular button you link the remote to.

When I park the car, I will pop the door. Then, before I open it, I will select button #3. The seat will begin moving back and down, and I can get out while it's moving. As long as I do this step, the seat will return to position #3 next time I open the door.

If I forget to move the seat before I climb out, then the next time I use my remote to open the door, the seat will return to whatever position I have left it in. I can still press #3 while the door's open to put it on the entry/exit position before I actually climb in.

When I get into the car, I will press button #1 before I close the door, and the seat will start moving forward and up. I'm now free to close the door while the seat moves; it won't stop moving. But if waited until the door was closed before pressing button #1 then, as I said, I would have to hold the button.

This is a little quirky, but it's functional. I didn't see any of this in my manual.
