Quartz Gray vs Dolphin Gray

Quartz Gray vs Dolphin Gray
I am looking at all of the local dealers' inventory online and I see about a 10 - 1 ratio of Quartz Gray vs Dolphin Gray. Does anybody know the reason for this? I prefer the Dolphin Gray because it is darker, but I might have to settle for Quartz Gray if that is all they have.
Thanks

"Settle" for Quartz?!?
Our informal surveys show Quartz to generally get slightly better mileage. There are faster colors, like Black, White, Red, and to a certain extent, Dolphin, but I went for the smoother ride and better mileage of Quartz.

Re: Quartz Gray vs Dolphin Gray
Dolphin is about a $700 option while quartz is about $400 or so, IIRC?
I couldn't find any cars with Ocean Blue that were speced how I wanted in the entire dealer network so I had to place an order... which isn't a bad thing, I like picking exactly what I want.

Dolphin Gray is a Customer Order Only color...
According to Audi:
"Customer Order Only" options are exclusively for customers placing unique vehicle orders; dealers cannot order these options for their stock inventories"
So, It means that if the dealer has a Dolphin Gray car in stock, it means that most likely someone ordered it and then didn't take delivery and the dealer got stock with it. Dealers cannot order Dolphin for their inventory, they can however order Quartz.
Quartz is treated as any other color such as silver, etc.
Also, Dolphin is a $750 option vs. just $475 for Quartz.
For all those reasons, you'll see much more Quartz at dealers than Dolphins (if any). This fact also makes Dolphin a more "exclusive" color for a mere $275 difference in price, making it a great value, unlike many other Audi options.
Quartz however is a beautiful color. I am biased to Dolphin (my B6 was Dolphon and so is my B7) but if they offered me a better deal for a car with all the options that I wanted for one that was Quartz, I would have considered it.
