Question to those who are chipped or who are knowledgeable about fuel issues (APR/REVO/Any tuner)
I see that Revo isn't available with the switcher yet and this question even goes for the progs that can be switched. So what if the gas attendant messes up or u take a roadtrip and 93 is simply not avaialble (and u didn't get the other programs)? Would you still run detonation problems if you didn't drive it hard? (like under 3.5K rpm)? Also, do the programs completely take out the ECU's original ability to advance and retard timing based on fuel grade? Thanks!

My thoughts...
The tuned ECU code should retard timing to prevent knock...heck, it's in the factory code.
Having used APR's stuff in the past, here's my experience. The best we can do around here is 92 octane fuel (a VERY few places have 93). When I told APR this, they told me to get the 91 octane program, because they want to err on the side of caution. If you have any concerns, that's the safe thing to do.
When it comes time to "chip" the B7 (with APR, of course), I may get both the 91 and the 93 programs in addition to stock just so I'm covered.
Hope that helps.

Joel
