Default Don't know why you think the S and RS cars do any better.

Your tires have to be suited for your conditions.

The S and RS and my 06 A4 S-line all came with high performance summer tires.

Default I wondered about that...

Thanks. I have some 16's from an '01 or'02 A6 available from a friend. So not much chance they will work?

Default 2nd

The "cold weather" package on my car is: headlight washers, ski sack, heated front seats.

The dealership in my area (Barrier) was recently offering a package for a set of 4 Michelin Pilot Alpins mounted on OEM alloy wheels (and despite what Tgr said, I think they were actually 16" wheels). IIRC, the price was pretty darn good even. I almost went for it, but decided that I'd rather just put snows on the 18"s.

Default Wow, I guess this thread is done...

I meant I would EXPECT no winter performance from a car setup as an S or RS. The soccer mom (or dad) edition should go in the damn snow !

Default i felt the same way. how could audi skimp out on tires

putting essentially bottom of the line pirelli all-season's on a $37k car? bs in my opinion, worst tires i've ever owned. you would think they would give more priority to the tires. if they can offer the michelin pilot sport for summer option, they should offer all-seasons in the same quality/price.

i bit the bullet, sold my pirelli p6's for $200.

For most folks, the OEM A/S are a fine compromise. No A/S would be suitable for his situation.

Default true, but that's still no excuse for the crap all-seasons mounted

on this car from the factory, imho. they are lacking in a lot more than just snow characteristics.

If they cleared A6 brakes they will most likely clear the B7 A4 setup. Can you post a pic?

Default Same logic as "Why won't my BB gun kill a rhino... it's still a gun."

You have the wrong tools for the task at hand-Ultimately you may fault only yourselves for not taking a better look at the car before rolling off the lot.

If you had made an issue with the tires, the dealer likley would have swapped wheels with another car.
