Default Rough Start up Problems

I've been reading through a lot of threads and have found many similar problems but not exactly like my problem, I have a 03 A4 1.8T and when I start it up it shakes and almost wants to die, I give it a little gas and it come down to an idle and everything is fine, When the engine gets hot after driving for awhile it seems to be a little worse. There is no CEL on and I changed the spark plugs I was just seeing if anyone knows whats going on until my scanner get here.
Thanks
B

Sounds like leaking fuel injectors. Common scenario with old fuel injectors, especially if it gets worse when warm. When you shut off the motor, they injectors leak and you have too much fuel in the cylinder. Next time you go to start, it will run rough at idle since it is too rich and the plugs are fouled. You give it gas and it clears out the cylinder(s) and runs at the proper mixture. Warm them up again, they will leak a little more, but you won't notice until you are at idle again. Is this whats happening with yours?

Also, a bad coolant temp sensor can also have similar symptoms since that will affect the idle control. This is probably a more common issue with our cars (and VWs). Much cheaper option if you want to start with that.

Thanks for the tips. I'll start with the coolant temp sensor and hope that's it.

Default scanner

I wait until the scanner arrives and pull some numbers from the sensors ect/maf, until recently with GSI I have not seen an injector going bad in these cars.
always try to provide more detailed info, anybody with common sense will not advise you based on your description alone.
a headache can be a tumor or a hang over, even a qualified doctor will need more info to separate one from the other.
if you want to start throwing parts at it base on suggestions you will end up spending a lot of money and just maybe fix the problem.
