Default Slumming it - B6 loaner impressions

So the B7 is my first Audi, nevermind first Audi or VW (not including an early 80s fox) I have actually driven

What I got for the loaner... 2002 A4 quattro, 1.8t, auto, 59k miles

First impressions - sluggish, just doesn't have the torque (nevermind the hp)of the 2.0t. You really have to be into it to get anywhere near the feel of the 2.0t, and even then its not there. You dont really have any inkling of fun until 4k. I know its a combination of the auto and the 1.8t but still... The car does seem to handle very neutrally and I can't imagine it having sport suspension. That did surprise me a bit, maybe it was just because I wasn't going as fast Maybe with a big turbo, FMIC, and supporting mods it would be better

Interior - It is a loaner and in turn beat on. Cloth seats, steering wheel buttons dont work, sunroof doesn't work, cd player wont work so radio only, cup holder in the armrest is weird. It also seems like you are sitting a lot higher, and the roofline is a lot lower.

If the B7 had the 1.8t in it I can say I am 99 sure I wouldn't have bought it. I love the 2.0t and stick especially!!

Just thought I'd share!

Default that is a tough comparo....

if you're driving the absolute bottom of the line b6 from 02 and evidence of the interior being beaten to death means the drivers beat on the car all together...

also i don't own a 1.8t (but i think with a chip it'd feel better than a 2.0t stock)

as far as the cupholders ... it's a german car... they don't focus on that kind of thing there is no drinking in my car so i actually removed the cupholers because they are useless

I'd take my stock 2.0T any day over chipped 1.8T.

Haha, steering wheel buttons don't work? Are you sure they have buttons?

Default i agree

chipping a car would worry me just based on the warranty alone

i remember hearing a lot of the turbo lag has been diminished in the 2.0t is that correct ?

I think the torque comes on about 250 rpm earlier for the 2.0t.
