Default Tranny Issue?

OK, I've been driving 911's for years so automatic trannies have become somewhat unfamiliar to me. Anyway, I just got an '07 A4 2.0T with the CVT for a daily driver and it seems to act oddly when pulling away from a stop, in particular if it's in slow traffic. It seems to not be fully engaged at first and sort of stutters a bit, as if it's not sure what gear to be in. On a couple of occastions it seems to sort of slam into gear if it's just idling and then I take off gradually. Is this normal?
TIA,
Buck

Sounds to me as if it's turbo lag. It's common for most turbo cars, because it takes time to spool up before actually moving. Nothing to be worried about, most turbo cars have a slight delay and stutter before acceleration. If anyone here disagress with me, feel free to. Just what i'm thinking.

Thanks, it sounds like I just need to get used to it and it certainly seems less noticable if I accelerate a little more agressively. I love the car but it is definitely a different driving experience from what I've gotten used to.

Default I don't have CVT, but stock 2.0T Tips display something similar.

Not like the "not fully engaged" that you mention, but there was definitely a "stutter" when starting from a stop.

APR program fixed that for the most part.

The Tip will upshift to 2nd at 6 MPH at anything less than 80% throttle.

Default The CVT doesn't have a gear to select for starting off...

It has to select a ratio between the 2 pulleys based on certain inputs. There is a momentary pause when accelerating, if you are concerned I'b bring it in. I haven't seen too many issues with the newer CVT in the B7 platform. Maybe just explain your lack of experience with the CVT and see if a tech can drive it to confirm...

I'm convinced it's due to my lack of experience with it. It sounds like it's performing normal based on these comments but I have to take it back for a small issue so I may bring it up then.
Thanks
