#4
here is what i use on my brilliant black a4

Re: Washing a Black Car?
My black A4: Wash with a large, soft sponge, car soap, and warm water. Dry off with a damp terry towel. For wax, I use McGuires Carnuba on a small damp sponge. Very little swirls after 3 years and car looks near new. I wax 3 times a year and clean the car weekly. The longer you let it go, the more swirls build up when you clean it.

Plenty of neutral soap, a SOFT cloth, lots of rinsing the car and clotch. Clean from top to bottom to minimise dirt in the bucket.
Do the rims last.
Always wash in one back and forth direction, the direction you would prefer natural feather scratching to go in.
Washing (and waxing for that matter) in circles like Daniel-San's "wax-on-wax-off" usually produces unfavorable swirls in black cars.
Back and forth is the best way.

Wouldn't recommend this... (I once owned a detail shop)

Sponges trap too much on the surface of the sponge and can grind contaminants against your paint

Terrycloths are awful.
They aren't soft enough. Use microfiber.
Wash with a thick microfiber mitt and dry with microfiber towel.
Try Mr Cleans auto dry, it works wonders!
I wash my car with it, pull it in the garage and let it dry.
Anything to minimize wiping on a dark car is GOOD!
I never have any issues with spots.
Every few waxes, use a good "glaze" (such as mquires show car glaze) to clean the paint, strip excess wax, remove feather scratches and start fresh every once in awhile.
Once again, go back and forth, not in circles.
Do very small sections.
