I have Xenons on my '06 A4 and usually leave the lights set on "automatic". If I shut the car down with the brights on, the car will restart with the brights off, even though the headlight stalk was left pushed forward to the brights on position. To use the brights, I have to return the stalk to the normal position, then push it forward again to activate the brights. Is this normal? What's the rationale for this?

I guess they're trying to prevent you from having the brights on all the time without realizing it.
