I'm sure you can stick it somewhere, just not in the center console.
There aren't a lot of ppl on these boards who have added aftermarket stereo components.

A few have upgraded speakers or subs, that's about it.

Anything is doable, just find a good professional shop. In my experience, aftermarket parts can give you exactly the sound you want and allow you to go high end. I changed the amps, speakers and added a sub, sounds amazing and fully OEM integrated (on the surface) and reversible when I sell the car.

was it a pain in the ****! to replace the oem speakers and upgrading amp and sub?

It was super easy..(just find a professional shop that know what they do and pay the bill kind of thing)..I know very little of the practical execution around this stuff, so I leave it to the guys who do it for a living.
