What box is this? initial i thought it should contain Cabin filter but it is not!
Whether this box should have any additional filter ? for me it looks like empty!! Not sure if i am missing any

Cabin filter is inside the car under the glove box. That screen in the picture is where the outside air enters the cabin.

Thanks for your response. I thought there should be some filter inside that box and now got clarified.

Actually got confused by below link!

Yeah, that Youtube vid is for B6 and B7 A4s as it mentions. In the US, model year 2008 products were B7 A4. My B8 A4 was built in August 2008 and originally sold in December 2008, but is a "US model year 2009 A4". So when seeing US content on "2008 A4", they may or may not be talking about the B8 generation A4.

That space is for the "external cabin filter" for A4, A5, Q5 and Porsche Macan. Not installed in all markets.

Okayy...! So is this necessary? However, i will replace the primary(under glove box) cabin filter on yearly maintenance.
