A4 B8 Avant Xenon Range Traffic Switchover Active Fault - help needed
Hello
I just got my HEX+CAN. VAG 12-12
Installed Ross-Tech VCDS 12.12 Release
And run few tweaks
As well as a scan:
I got two errors:
One with Xenon Range and another with radio
I'd like to get help on the issue with the headlights:
Here is the full error message from the log.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address 55: Xenon Range Labels: 8K0-907-357.clb
Part No: 8K5 907 357
Component: Dynamische LWR H01 0010
Revision: 00000001 Serial number:
Coding: 0000004
Shop #: WSC 06334 000 00000
VCID: F7FD8D5786381FA6259-80A2
1 Fault Found:
02988 - Left-Hand/Right-Hand Traffic Switchover Active
000 - - - MIL ON
Freeze Frame:
Fault Status: 11100000
Fault Priority: 7
Fault Frequency: 1
Reset counter: 201
Mileage: 207328 km
Time Indication: 0
Date: 2017.10.18
Time: 15:56:08
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I did a research on the item mentioned as part in the log:
Part No: 8K5 907 357 = 8K5907357B
at escTuning is listed on $399.07
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...it/8k5907357b/
at genuinenewparts part is listed on $332.58
https://www.genuinenewparts.com/oem-...MjYwNSZyPTE%3D
My question is:
Is replacing the unit the only way or there are other less expensive solutions to get rid of the error and fix potential problem?
Gotta mention that every time I start the vehicle the headlights are making short down and up movement before they got on stationary working position,
Not sure if this info i related but worth to mention that they move at least on the initial start up check.
Thank you in advance.

The code 02988 is only to indicate that the "Headlamp converter" setting is active. The setting is to be used when taking trips to countries that drives on the opposite side. I guess your menu system has the setting under CAR / Exterior Lighting / Headlamp Converter. Set it to OFF (unless you ARE abroad.) I don't know if it also will remove the MIL.
(Just a comment that in my mind Ross-Tech deserves getting paid for their work, so I have bought a legit cable which also means that SW updates are free. The explanation of error codes can often be found on the Ross-Tech web site.)

02988 - Left/Right-Hand Traffic Switchover Active
Possible Causes
- Left/Right-Hand Traffic Switchover (Tourist Solution) activated
Possible Solutions
- Check Left/Right-Hand Traffic Switchover (Tourist Solution) Setting
Special Notes
- This Fault Code is only set with Tourist Solution active, as soon as the Tourist Solution Setting is being deactivated the Fault Code will clear (automatically).
- Most Headlight Levelling Control Modules have an Adaptation Channel for this Setting. Depending on the Vehicle Options/Equipment, you may also find a Driver accessible Setting in either the Instrument Cluster or Radio/Multimedia/Infotainment System Car Menu/Options.

Thank you very much Er Vivek Kumar.
Yes I deactivated the switch from the MMI and all went well afterward.
