Thank you for identifying that. It appears there may be a website navigation issue with part selection for the 2009 Audi A4. When searching by 'A4 Quattro,' the CAEB engine code isn't readily available, unlike searching by 'A4' alone. This could certainly lead to confusion.

Default alternator not charging error, 2014 Q5 TDI

So yesterday I hooked up an air pump to the hot battery post under the hood in front of the wind screen and inflated a raft - no issue, done this many time before. A few minutes alter I started to car and drove about a minute and the red battery symbol came up on the dash with a message that he alternator was not charging the battery. Sure enough the battery voltage was 11.6 volts whether or not the engine was running. I checked all the fusible links next to the positive post I hooked the pump to and all the links on the battery + terminal in the rear spare tire area and all check good. It's hard for me to believe the alternator went bad at exactly the same time I used the pump, but those things happen I suppose. What else can I check? The alternator is a pit of a pain to get to without a lift...

On the V6 engines, the alternator is usually at the bottom right of the engine, making it much harder to access than on the 2.0T, where it's right there at the top front. But you'd need to see if the issue is the VR failed, is the alternator pulley failed (belt is spinning, but the alternator rotor is not), or is the alternator itself failed. And that assumes the run from the alternator B+ output post to the positive jump start post test good for continuity and low resistance. You could use VCDS and look at the DTCs of the J533 (19-gateway) and see the alternator status values in measuring block 015. See if you have a communication error. If not, then the temp/electrical/mechanical states in 015 are valid. If you have a comms failure, then you'd be looking most likely at the VR, since the alternator output is also bad. But there's not a lot you can accomplish until you can get to the alternator itself.
