Audi Care and Audi Pure Protection Plan

Audi Care and Audi Pure Protection Plan
I am about the purchase brand new 2012 a4 quattro, and I am going to be driving it for 7-10 years. Based on some research in this forum, I think I am gonna buy the Audi Plan ($800).
But the finance guy in the dealership told me about the Audi Pure Proctection plan (Plantinum) and he said this would cover for 7 years/70K miles and this would cost addtional $2700 separate from Audi Care.
I did research this forum regarding the pure protection plan, but honestly I don't know much about cars and I can't really tell the difference between Audi Care and this protection plan.
Audi Care would take care of the car for 5 years but paying $2700 more for additional 2 years of coverage seems very odd to me (maybe they cover different stuff..)
Any advice?

Audi Care is simply a pre-paid maintenance program that covers your regularly scheduled service visits after the first free one (at 5k miles). It covers the 15k, 25k, 35k, and 45k services (oil changes, filter changes, plug changes, etc.). It also may buy you better service "quality" or attention from the Service Manager as they sometimes take better care of their Audi Care customers (I have experienced this firsthand). Audi Care has nothing to do with your factory warranty (4 years, 50k miles) and does not extend or supplement it.
I believe the Audi Pure Protection may just be an extended warranty. Be careful with those, as they often include a deductible and are exclusionary (meaning they are not really "bumper to bumper" like your factory warranty) and may not cover certain parts on your car. They also tend to be quite expensive.

Audi Care is a pre-paid maintenance plan. It is actually a pretty good value if you are going to bring car to the dealership for service. 35K service alone I hear is about $600.

Pure Protection is Audi extended warranty. Platinum is the most expensive tier of that. I would question the necessity of this expense to cover just the mileage from 50 to 70K. IMHO an extended plan should cover to 100K.

In Canada the rate is about the same, $3300-. We tend to keep our cars longer so the added expense is worth it, and our BMW which is 11yrs old is still running strong. If you're planing to keep your car or do extra mileage then it pays.
