Default Black mesh grill Mod

I was getting tired of the stock grill.

Ordered rs5 mesh from LLtek and customizing the fog inserts this week. more pics to come. Removing the bumper wasn't bad either.

I'm doing the same next weekend. How did you re-attach your 4 rings, Homelink, etc?

I used a very fine wire to attach the rings. less messy than any bonding or glue and you cant see it at all. I was worried about the bonding ever losing strength or heating up in the summer and losing the rings while driving- so the wiring will hold it in place no matter the conditions. - the homelink sits in a harness in the stock grill - i took it out of there and tucked it off to the side out of sight held in place by zip ties. There is also a styrofoam padding that detaches from the stock grill (the 5mph bumper guard) - i found it was difficult to get the bumper back on with it so I left it off.

The rings from the original grille are not going to fit.Unless you mod it,then glue it to the grille.I have been trying to find a base to attach it to my grille and then snap the rings on the base.

The Homelink is another issue.I actually drilled into the steel bumber and attached it there. It works....Just get a stainless steel screw and drill carefully to hold the Homelink.

boiler, do you have a photo where you can see the grill?

Assuming that it is honeycomb like RS5...how many of the LLtek panels did you need to do the grill and fog surrounds?

The RS5 grill requires the RS5 foam pad....at least when converting an A5/S5 to RS5 grill. Maybe that would allow the bumper to fit properly. I'd hate to see what happens when someone parallel parks and backs into your bumper without any support under the PU. Snap, crackle, pop...

Interesting idea on the homelink. I will be bonding the rings to the grille with JB Weld. It will never come off...but if it does it's less than $40 to replace, so no biggie.

However, does your homelink work well even though you've located it differently?
