Brakes Pads warning after installation of Hawk HPS
Hello,
Yesterday I replaced the original brake pads (all 4) to HAWK HPS pads at a local shop. After today's driving I noticed that oil consumption has gone way up to 13-14 mpg. Then the "Worn Pads" warning sign lit up.
I inspected all the pads and seems like the front pads are always pressed while hand brakes ARE NOT applied and on neutral).
Did anyone have this problem?
Thanks

Did they re-use the original pad sensor or install a new one? Also, it doesn't make sense that consumption (you said oil, but I assume you meant gas) would go up after installing new brake pads. Are you sure the shop used the correct procedure for "opening" the rear calipers to their original position? Some people have said it needs to be done using a special tool or VAG-COM. The shop that did mine had the tool, though I brought my VAG cable in case.

they reused the original pad sensor. i'm pretty sure they didn't have any special tool or VAG-COM. I thought pad replacement was a pretty simple procedure that any shop can do.
(sorry, i meant gas.)

They definitely did something wrong swapping the pad sensor. I've heard they can be pretty touchy and the swap has to be done with care. I'd take it back and have them check it out. Hopefully it's an easy fix.

Seems like the wear pad sensor is only on front left wheel and seems like it's unusable.
i can't find the replacement for that sensor anywhere on the internet.
any idea/part#?
