Default Buying a used 2012 A4 Avant, Audi Certified worth the $$?

Buying a 2012 A4 Avant from a private party through a dealership. They are offering to "certify" it for me to 100k miles (currently 10k). Anyone know what a reasonable cost for this would be (considering the vehicle is flawless now so no corrections made to get it up to CPO)? I'm thinking I'm better off with the regular 50k warranty on the car and looking at an aftermarket warranty when I get close to the end of the 50k.

thanks,

Milk&Cheese

$1300 sticks out to me. When we bought my wife's Q5 they said they certified it for no charge and it retailed for $1300. Could be wrong though.

Every Audi dealer has to pay a certification fee for every car they certify.

It can range from $1300-2200 depending on the model and how many cyl's it has.

You'll be hard pressed to buy a quality 6 year 100 warranty for under $2500 on a higher end German car.

So if you're dealer is willing to broker a private party car and do the CPO warranty at cost, it's not a bad deal.

they're offering it for $1450.00. Which seems relatively reasonable. I imagine it might be more expensive to add to the car later on it its life.

Aftermarket warranties are crap and will cost you as much if not more and cover much less. If you're planning on keeping this car for that long then go for it. On the other hand I am sure you can always certify it later on before your original warranty about to expire (ask your dealer). I personally would wait till then since you have no idea if and what is going to happen in the future. Car can be sold, totaled, etc... IMHO.

I got them to add the CPO for $1000 and rolled it into the financing (with the Audi CPO MY12 special rate of 2.4%) so it seemed worthwhile as we plan to keep this one well past 50k (unless the damn dogs get even bigger).
