Default Coil packs replaced-question

I just had my 35k maintenance (my car has 27,600) so I go in every year vs. by mileage. Anyway, they replaced the 4 coils under a recall for premature failure of the part. Does anyone know when the recall came out? I just wonder if this had anything to do with the constant issue the car had going from 1st to 2nd.

Also….I was burning oil. About 1-2 quarts between services. Is that a result of a bad coil?

No, the coils would have nothing to do with either of those issues. The change out was done as part of a campaign based on that particular batch of coils. You probably didn't have a problem with the original coils but they would be replaced anyway.
