Default EPC LIGHT + CODES
Scanned my buddies A4, B8 Platform. The car idles super tough from time to time.
The EPC light is on - on the dashboard. Surprisingly it usually idles okay when the light is on - but rough and like it is going to stall when its off.
That said here are some codes from VCDS when I did Auto Scan.
Anybody have an idea what part is likely causing all these codes?

You should probably paste the text into a basic editor like Notepad or Notepad++ where all the hidden control stuff gets filtered out, then format it in plain text the way you want it to look and copy/paste that into the posting.
There is an edit button, should be in the bottom right of the post when looking at the thread if you were the post author.

Since it's VCDS, when the auto scan finishes, save to log file, then copy/paste from the log file. There seems to be a lot of missing information in that data for it to be coming from VCDS.

It looks like VCDS doesn't recognize your ECM: No ASAM data for: "EV_ECM20TFS0118K2907115AL" (AU48).
4051 through 4063 are misfire event on each cylinder, 4113 is about the camshaft position sensor, and 4096 is about the CMP Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28). Found all this by simply using Google.
But you're missing the P code for each DTC, so the specific of the error is missing because your VCDS doesn't understand the ECM you've hooked it up to, somehow.

so without the P codes this is useless?
or are the general codes that were googled indicative of a specific problem?

could it be something easy like the mass airflow sensor,or coil pack?

The car basically idles super rough sometimes below even 1000 rpm and wants to stall.

usually when the epc light comes back on it idle normals again.

I've never had 4113 or 4096. So never needed to look into it. I would say those should be your focus, as the misfires are probably just fallout from the actual issue. It would be more informative with the complete DTC data, but you can start searching from those two codes and see where it takes you.
