No work on the engine by me, but I got the car used at 44k, (it died at 93k) so it's possible there was some work done before I got the car. The car had actually needed virtually no real work until this issue came up. Although I might be wrong on the code numbers, the description by the mechanic and the dealer were definitely fuel temp sensor.

The intelligent guess is it was high pressure rail fuel pressure related, such as P2177, P2178, P2187, P2188, P2293, P2294, or P2295. As that will be impacted by timing issues. The EVAP vapor temp sensor is in the back of the car, at the leak detection module. Since the EVAP codes will set the MIL, and they could not have been fixed by timing, then they must not have been the codes in the first place. It was fuel pressure codes, and they got fixed when the timing was fixed. Is the most logical guess without the actual original DTC scan log.

But on the vibration damper, you never had any work done on the engine front end prior to that event? Chains or pistons or any of that? Would be worrisome if that damage was from a factory installation. Is expected from field work if they aren't careful.

That video you linked is really well done. That special tool was introduced after my workshop manual copy was made, interesting to see it in use. Definitely more reliable than the old process of "just get lucky".

bro any write up on how I can fix my issues p2024,p2025,p2026??

lol this thread is a total mess...

but as far as his timing sprocket goes , that thing was not installed properly after timing work i am almost sure.

Yes its not a great design for servicing but it works when its done right . When people reef it down in the wrong position , that's when the problems start. end up damaging the teeth, and the timing is off, you can see the metal at the top of the gear, cranking in the wrong spot will also cause the bolt to back out . Other things that cause it while service it is people do not replace the crank bolt, or forget to oil the o'ring in the crank bolt, forgetting to oil the crank bolt o'ring can allow you to reach the correct torque, but without the correct clamping force, and it can again , back out.

But as smac points out the timing of the engine is designed to match with the HPFP injections, so if its off , you can get fuel pressure codes ( not always ) as the ECU is watching everything. Has zero to do with fuel temps.
