Help me explain 40/60 split
I asked a knowledgeable friend of mine how my car could achieve a 40/60 split in power (or torque) between the two axles if the wheels are traveling at the same speed.
He said the car must have a viscous-type center differential. When I told him that the car has a torsen differential, and that it’s all mechanical, he said that there must be some hydraulic system in the car that is allowing the uneven split between the two axles.
So I’m turning to the experts here at AudiWorld to help me explain things to my friend (and myself).

One of the coolest features of all the TorSen systems is they are NOT reactionary -- that is they ACT IN REAL TIME, they do not require wheel slip to work. Other systems require some slipping to kick in.
