Default Hood Latch Sensor

Does anyone know if I can replace just the hood latch micro sensor on my late 11 S4, or do i have to replace the whole assembly?

You see reference to separate part numbers for the latch and the micro switch. The first three characters typically designate the relevant product class (8K0 is B8 A4, 8T0 is B8 A5), then the next six are the part type, then any revision characters after that. So 823509 is the whole latch with switch, 953236 is just the micro switch. But while 8T0953236 is still available, as revision B (https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...ch/8t0953236b/), there does not appear to be any 8K0953236 version still available (was 8K0953236A). I'd bet the 8T0 one will work just fine for you (thus why ECS lists it under B8 A4/S4, while parts.audiusa.com lists it only for the A5/S5).
