I wish that the B8 had LED tail-lights. When compared to the headlights the taillights look generic

Audi must have a reason for omitting them on the current B8.
I'm just willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
I expect them to integrate them sooner or later.
Until then, you can curse Audi and whine all you want but it doesn't change reality so get over it.
If they are THAT important to you, buy a car that has them.
I just doubt that they are REALLY that important to you.

Re: That's true but there are three things I dislike about LED tail lights:
Could it be the burned out LED's you are seeing are likely the cheap aftermarket garbage from Pep Boys? They are everywhere and they never last. Just like the fake xenon headlights. They are always out. I have never seen a burned our rear LED that was a factory unit. Pretty rare to see a broken xenon too.
About LED's being too bright. Possibly... but they are just a shade brighter than regular lights. DOT regulates how bringht rear lighting can be. What might be getting your attention is the fact that they are LED's... not that they are in fact brighter. This is a mental thing I once thought as well when they first started appearing. LED's grab your attention because of their unique design, arrangement, style, and their fast activation time. You mentioned a while back they look cheesy on some cars. I do conquer with that. The Caddy Escalade looks like crescent moons. Terrible.

Really? I was certain that it wasn't. I thought I saw one without them on the street last year.
It was during the day/afternoon so maybe they wern't very clear. I'm talking about the sedan in these cases as well, not the avant, I know the A6 avant had LEDs right from the begining.
I'm still hoping the B8 A4/S4 and A5/S5 will get taillight LEDs sometime. I don't think they have an excuse not to have them seeing as even a Prius has them. I think that the other cars in this class have no reason not to have them either e.g. C class and 3 series (except the 3 series coupe, it may have them, I'm not sure).

They look so much better IMO. So why don't they put these in the A4 if they r already in production?
Seems kind of stupid to me seeing as they are also a safety feature among other things beneficial.

Are you sure they are LEDs? They look great whatever they are.

My favorite LED taillight arrangement is in the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4. They look like the Predator's instrument designs.

They get your attention because they're laser intense and blasting photons into your retinas...
And on the 'Slades and that other Cadillac hearse-looking sled they're at eye level for people in cars. The combination of a high bumper and LED tails is a damned nuisance. And speaking of Cadillacs... I have seen late model Caddys with factory LEDs with entire rows out in a cluster before. They don't fail catastrophically since there's redundancy by design, but I suspect they fail expensively, bit by bit when they do go out.
