Installing Bluetooth

Installing Bluetooth
Hello - I have a 2011 A4. It seemingly does not have bluetooth capability installed. It does have a phone button but no phone installed. What do I need to do to get bluetooth or connect the phone?

Would this be what I need to install bluetooth? If so, how would I install it? https://www.crutchfield.com/p_249BTS...Interface.html

From the description it sounds like only music streaming function. Search for "hands free". Maybe something like the link below (but check and get the version that it is compatible with your radio system): (If you also want music streaming, A2DP, you need something else.)

You must have the base Premium trim. Bluetooth was an optional package for Premium. I'm guessing you don't have HomeLink either, as that was the other half of that optional package for Premium trim.

The Bluetooth in the B8.0 did not include music streaming from the source device, only hands free functionality. If you wanted music streaming, you needed the Bluetooth dongle for the AMI port, another feature that was an option rather than standard for Premium trim.
You linked a product from Crutchfield, but if you look at the details for that product, it only supports 2007-2009 for the A4. I'm guessing it's tied to having MMI 2G.
If you have the AMI port in the glovebox, that's the route I would go. Otherwise, I'd get a Bluetooth to FM transmitter. This is what I got my niece for her car that had no bluetooth or auxiliary input. It works fine. She just has to answer calls by touching the phone, turning the radio down herself, etc. If you're dying to retrofit the OE Bluetooth solution, it seems there was one (I'm guessing you have a non-MMI vehicle). But Audi discontinued it, 8K0051793.

Big job as you need to replace the head unit and maybe some wiring . Also run a microphone wire and mic.

Definitely a big job for calling. If you want it for music though I used this for about a year in my old car. Only $15 and works great if you keep it plugged into a power source. Otherwise it dies every other day and that can get annoying but it happens with any of these adapters.
