Just prior to the RS6 market launch and at the 24 hours du Le Mans race, Audi AG had a road course setup in the parking lot adjacent to its hospitality tent facility. A professional driver would take guests for a thrilling hot lap in the RS6 sedan. I lined up for the deal more than once.... In addition there we're several Audi AG Courtesy RS6 Avant cars parked in and around the Le Mans complex to view; our gracious host scored an RS6 Avant for us to drive out on the open roads nearby for an hour or so. A Daytona Grey metallic RS6 Avant would be in my garage as-we-speak had the Avant version been imported to the States.

Thnx, yep I had a similiar experience at an Audi event 5 years ago. They had an RS6 sitting in the
display area and they let people sit in it then they also did several runs around an auto-x course with a pro driver driving and it was clear how awesome the car was. Sold me that day, just took two more years for me to actually get one. Will be very difficult to give the car up but getting excited about the S5 and new toys to play with.

I've got a C300 sport ... it's just plain terrible.
It's rwd though, not the awd version. Handling balance isn't that bad (much better than my B6 A4 was) and the ride/handling balance is pretty nice for slogging through traffic.
But that's where it ends. The rest of the car is just crap. Cheap materials inside and out, weird engineering decisions that don't seem to make any sense, missing features that you'd expect in this class. Best way to sum it up is that it's a 25k car with 10k worth of merc badges on it. And that might be generous.
I figured I'd give merc a try since I'd never owned one. At the time I was shopping, the Audi dealer wasn't interested in dealing on A3's. And I knew the B8 was right around the corner even though they still weren't dealing much on the B7s; plus I've had a B6.
It'll be the last merc I ever own. Anybody who's cross-shopping the C would do well to cross it off their list. It's just nowhere near the level of the 3 series ... or even the B7 for that matter.
I'm happy to hear that they've sorted the balance.

I read your post a little wrong the first time not getting tht you had one but yes the B8 is
certainly a step up...maybe not to regular people who think an MB is top of the heap prestige wise but to the rest of the us the B8 looks better inside and out...felt almost A6 size inside, (although helped that the demo cars had light colored interiors in them), and fit/finish is all there along with the repeat of far better handling than previous A4s. The next S4 should be another big leap forward like the B5 S4 was.
