Default License plate bracket

Hi, new to this forum....also new Audi owner. We just purchased a 2013 A4/Premium used. It came from a state that did not require a front license plate. As bad as I hate to hang a front plate on it I am going to have to do so. Stopped by the local dealer last week and found out they want over $200 for the plastic bracket. Does anyone know of a bracket from a different vehicle or a universal that looks good/will fit without a lot of modification?

you should not have bought an Audi if the $200 bracket scares you.

Want to drive a champagne car on a beer budget, do you?

A new member asked a valid question and got two sarcastic responses. If you can't help, fine, but let's dispense with the snide wisecracks. This is not acceptable behavior in the AW Forums.

I agree. Just because you've spent alot on a car doesn't mean it's necessary to go spend unreasonable amounts for every other thing in the world. A license plate holder, the value in itself, is not worth $200.

To the OP, I'd recommend to see you can bargain with the dealership that sold the car to you to see if the can sport you a bracket at a reasonable price. If we can get a discount on the car purchase, why not a part? It's all about creating customer loyalty in tne end, and I'm sure if you spoke to the right person, you could make something swing.

I'd also try looking on eBay to see if you can find someone selling theirs or a replica/OEM part for cheaper.

Good luck.

Default Opposite problem

First post here, so, hello all...

I just picked up an 2011 A4 for my wife, (she nixed the idea of an S4, but at least she agreed to getting a stick shift!), and want to remove the front plate and replace the grill with an RS grill.
If I can convince her, I can sell you my license plate holder for far less than 2 C's.
I will follow up when I convince my wife that the front plate is not necessary.
I have none on any of my other cars...

Check with your state DMV. California demands a front plate and the manufacturer is responsible for providing it.

There are a couple of options for you. A good sponsor, ECS, sells factory plate panels cheaper. You can check Ebay or a junk yard.

I made a hanger from two inch wide pieces of stainless bent to hook onto the filler panel. A strip of velvet glued to the back protects the paint.

Another option is a plate bracket that mounts in the tow hook receiver.

Default I did the opposite

I bought the blank filler piece so I could avoid having a front license plate. I don't know the penalty in your state but in California it's a fix-it ticket, no big deal.

Autozone has a empty bracket that you can spray paint black and attach with a few screws and washers, I came across the same problem when looking for the aftermarket mesh grill
