Default Looks like more ongoing Stasis problems...

I've been locked in a good month long adventure with Stasis. After my dealer flashed me back to stock to do my oil consumption TSB, I had them put the Stasis tune back on. They told me after they got the ECU back, the engine fan stayed on after the car was off. They shipped the ECU back to Stasis, and Stasis determined it was fried and gave me a replacement brand-new ECU with stock firmware. Now, I've been waiting ever since for Stasis to send me a new modded ECU. I just heard from my dealer today that another A4 they attempted to flash was in the same situation, and they've yet to hear back from Stasis.

I have a 2011 A4. I had a perfect experience with my first ECU flash, so I was surprised when this happened.

However, I do give credit to the whole Stasis+dealership network system -- the dealer and Stasis coordinated and I had a nice loaner car the whole time until my car was in driveable condition again, and they worked out who was responsible for the fried ECU's cost without my intervention.

Both Stasis and the dealership are responsive to me now and working through this.

not sure I'd call it a Stasis problem... there have been a number of reports of ECU problems with or without tunes and from various tuners. I've had various quirks when interacting with mine. APR has had to do strange hacks on mine to apply my stage2 mapping. I also had trouble at my Audi dealership, before I had any tune, when they tried to apply a firmware update - they didn't provide details other than to say they needed to get an Audi engineer on the phone and it took them half a day to apply it.

the ecu is basically a computer. we know how stable those are...

Yeah, I'm not blaming Stasis per se -- I'm sure this kind of stuff happens. I'm currently a firmware engineer by profession, and while don't know what's involved as far as hacking these ECU's go, I can imagine how messy it can get. And indeed, the last story I heard about this was with an APR flash. In my case I'd just like to say that one advantage of the Stasis route that is not immediately obvious at purchase time is that any downtime doesn't leave you stranded without a driveable car. You get the seamless experience of dealing with your dealership and their loaner fleet procedures.

Oh, did I mention I managed to wreck a loaner car? It was not my fault -- at a red light a large diesel pickup truck rammed me at 30mph or so. The car itself (B7 A4) was TOTALED but all 4 of my passengers escaped uninjured.

The next day, after all the service techs finished getting out their camera phones and taking picture, put me in a brand new 2012 Q5 loaner.
