Hi guys,

I recently got a black VAG K+CAN cable (black with Green LED) from Ebay. The cable seems to be OK as the LED lights the moment I plug into the OBD port. Also, I have got Windows 7 to recognize it using FTDI and ROSS-Tech drivers. However, I can't make it talk with any VCDS software, VAG Commander (various versions) or even using a terminal program.

I suspect the drivers I am using are to blame. Please help me figure out whether the drivers are an issue (which version should I be using) or the cable is bad.

If it's not a Ross-Tech cable, it's unlikely to work with VCDS as the cable is the license key mechanism.
This is a USB cable? You shouldn't need anything other than the VCDS software as it installs the appropriate drivers. When you go into Options and select USB and do Test, what does it say?
What software did the listing claim the cable was expected to work with?

Yeah, but that has no manufacturer marking or branding. It's certainly not an original Ross-Tech cable, and if it's meant to be a Chinese knock off, did the listing quote "will work with VCDS"?
As for VAG Commander, I know nothing about that software and if it requires compatible cables. This isn't as simple as picking up a null modem cable.
