Newbie MMI/Navi question
I am considering an 2010 A4 or S4 and can't seem to find the answer to this question. I tried searching but couldn't seem to find the exact question. I am currently deployed overseas and am looking to place an order so I can't really go down to a dealership to take a look.
I do not need/want a Nav system so I was considering P+ models. I am a bit unclear about how the Audi Music Interface for the iPod works if you don't get a Nav. Do you still get the MMI joystick dial thing by the shifter? If not, how do you control the audio system? Is there a difference in the display screen between models with & without Navi?
Thanks for any help

If you don't get Nav then the dial and buttons go up on the dash. The screen is also 0.5" smaller and the resolution etc is lower.
See the pics.
The AMI connection is in the globebox and is controlled by pressing the Media button regardless if it is on the dash or down by the shifter.

so just to be sure i'm understanding, even if you don't get the nav system you still have the same full ipod-like controls it just comes on a lower res screen and the dial thing is moved?

As an aside, what's that thing on the left side of the shifter with the three slits?

I generally keep my cars for a long time and I'd rather keep the car focused on what it does best (being a car) rather than being a mini-computer. I am an IT guy so I know the sight of an ancient nav system will bother me in eight years every time I see the nav capabilities of a new fancy iPhone Skynet Edition.
So long as the MMI in the non-navi cars can handle playlist browsing, artist selection, etc, I will be happier in the long run. I'm sure in eight years I will still listen to my music in about the same manner as I do today. I'm pretty sure I will interact with a nav system in a much different manner. Just a personal preference thing.
That said, does anyone know if the non-navi P+ models still have the same iPod control features?
