No power to fuel pump
#1
Current only runs to the fuel pump cable when positive terminal is disconnected.
Hi friends,
I have an Audi A4 B8 1.8 2011 model.
Using a multi-meter, there is current going to the positive cable to the fuel pump. But when connected, the current stops. The fuel pump works well if connected directly to the positive battery terminal.
I checked all the relays (under the ECU in the hood, under the dash, and in the trunk) they all work well. I checked the fuse and they are all good.
It started when suddenly the car wont start. Diagnostic says its the fuel pump. But when we disconnect and reconnect the socket to the fuel pump, it suddenly works. It was ok for a few days and the same problem happened. But after disconnecting and reconnecting the socket it worked well again.
This time (third time) it doesn't work anymore.
A few months back i had a minor accident in the front, damaging the bumper a little. But the car works just fine. Does this symtom have anything to do with the safety cut off on the positive battery terminal?
In the forum they say its known that VWs tend to cut of current to the fuel pump when there is not enough oil in the engine.
Any idea guys?

Turns out to be poor connection to the "fuel pump control module'' awkwardly located hidden, just next to the fuel pump. Had to take out the ring of the fuel pump to get it out, after unscrewing the two L screws holding it. very tight space, had to pull the car plate around the fuel pump to get it out. woud rather do that rather than having to take out the botom deck and reach it from under.
Hope this could be valuabe to anyone having the same symtoms.
