Hey guys what are the recs for oil? The Manual is confusing me.
I know full synthetic...
I live in deep south - Savannah.
Long hot summer, just cool winter, never freezing - i.e. not <32 degrees.
is it 5w-40? 0w - 40? Other?
Euro spec Castrol - right?
Or, doesn't it matter as long as full syn good stuff like Valvoline or Mobil 1 (vs. off brand) ?
I know VW/Audi has a "spec" I need to look for on container - Like GM corvettes need a "dexos" spec.

If you have a 2.0tfsi you need VW 50200 spec oil, which is every single 0W-40 oil and nearly every 5W-40 oil.

The VAG spec does not specify "synthetic" oil or otherwise. The spec contains a good number of parameters it must meet to carry their approval, including a "thickness" (HT/HS) spec. Any oil meeting 502.00 is suitable for your car, taxman. The oils are all very similar. Loads of good oils to pick from. One of the newer oils would be Castrol's 0W40. It meets some tough specs.

I used to see Castrol's 5W40 at Autozone. Don't know how easy that one is to find nowadays.

You technically could run a 504.00 oil, which is supposed to leave the engines cleaner.
