If we actually had a dipstick, fussing over the level, checking and re-checking to see if it's too high would fix the problem.

Sure you'd have a couple of oil-soaked rags from each time you wiped off the dipstick, but the level would come down ... :-)

My dealer said he "heard" that a seal would get punctured if a dipstick was used and trigger the check engine light. Hard to believe--has anyone located and/or purchased the elusive dipstick? If not, then Audi should offer a dispenser on the dashboard so you can physically check your oil.

When I owned a B6, the dealership consistently overfilled my crankcase. Sometimes it was almost a quart over the limit! Maybe that's why one of my catalytic converters failed early.

My German spy, Fritz, tells me the dipstick part number is 03L 115 611 E. Price is Euro 6.67

Yes, and if you have an oil extractor you can change your oil without even having to get under the car.

Default I got wrong stick

My dealer sent me part# 06E 115 611 for my 2.0T. It is too short and does not seat in the tube. I will order the stick listed above.

How much did you pay for the stick? When I went to the dealership in Pasadena, CA they told me it would cost $100. I went there because my A4 Prem+ had the low oil indicator and needed at most 1qt of oil. I've only driven it for 3000 miles when it first started to beep.

DOH! I gave the wrong part number. That dipstick part number is for a 2.0l diesel engine. Sorry. Fritz says you might find a dipstick at VW, but their engines use a different dipstick tube.
