Possible New Purchase
Hi, I'm new to all of this and need some assistance in determining if an A4 I'm looking at is worth purchasing. I know the 2011 can be a nice car if you get the right one that has had the oil consumption problem fixed. Would like to purchase in the next few days if anyone can help out with the service history.
I want to thank all in advance for your assistance.

How would anyone here know the service history if you have provided no details on the vehicle? Your best bet is to go to the local dealer with the seller to obtain service records from Audi assuming all the service was done by Audi.

You've got the piston rings issue (oil consumption) to review. Do they have paperwork on having had the pistons/rings replaced? If they say it was done at dealer X, call them and see if they'll validate the claim.
You've got the timing chain issue (engine destruction) to review. Visually check the tensioner via the inspection hole, and check the current adaptation value in VCDS.
You've got the turbo wastegate issue (poor operation and constant MIL blocking emissions passing) to review. Do you hear the bicycle chain rattle when you rev it up and let off the gas.
If you clear DTCs and drive it for 10 miles, and then do a scan with VCDS, are there new DTCs?
All this for a base Premium trim?

The B8.5 years, 13-16, are generally considered much less prone to or simply free of the design and build flaws of the 09-12 motor. Note, the 13-16 use electric steering racks (that's not a plus or minus, just a note), and have their own recalls, such as the afterrun coolant pump. I'd be less inclined to buy a B8.5 that did the disconnect option on that recall waiting for a replacement part.

So is the disconnect option a pump that runs and circulates the coolant or oil through the turbo after engine shutdown? Or is it something completely different?
With your extensive knowledge can you recommend a little bit older model this car will be a daily driver i am going to share with my son. If I like the older model I am going to purchase one of the models you listed above.
Thanks for all of your help in this matter.
