Default snowchains on 18" s-line, I already stfa

Hey guys, I already stfa but I couldn't find anything on this subject matter.
I was wondering if it is possible to fit snowchains on 245/40/18", on the S-line rim on the eurospec B8 avant with s-line suspension?
It is already fitted with 18" winter tires

According to my "On Board Handbook" below, the answer for you is, No. With narrower wheels the answer is, Only on front wheels.

quattro, winter tires, AND chains? Wow, what kind of conditions do you have to drive through?

You can't be too careful, can you?
It's a fronttrack 2.0 TDi, no quattro...
Roads and country here are really flat, but winters here are so rainy quattro would have been a plus. Winters here are usually not that snowy, but when traveling to neighbouring countries like Germany the conditions do get snowy.

Ahhh, I see. I keep forgetting that there is a non-quattro option. Fortunately winter tires are pretty grippy. I don't know how we got around with RWD and bias belted tires when I was a kid. Actually, I recall having to get out and push a lot as my dad rocked the car back and forth. I haven't had to do that in awhile.

Unfortunately, California vehicle code requires me to carry chains in my car, even though I have quattro and DWS tires, when traveling in the Sierras during snow conditions. So I need to buy some chains, I will never use. I wonder which ones I should get to carry? cables?

http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/vctires.htm

"27460. Any passenger vehicle or motortruck having an unladen weight of 6,500 pounds or less and operated and equipped with four-wheel drive and with snow-tread tires on all four drive wheels may be operated upon any portion of a highway without tire traction devices, notwithstanding the fact that the highway is signed for the requirement of those devices and provided that tire traction devices for at least one set of drive wheels are carried in or upon the vehicle."

It looks like these work;

Doesn't that passage say that you DO NOT need chains?

Edit: Nevermind. Got it.
