Sunroof problems
I live about 10 minutes drive from the North Pole, so this won't apply to most of you. But a few weeks ago I went to the car wash to get my A4 Avant Quattro nice and clean. Several days later I opened the sunroof, and a HORRIBLE grinding sound -- which almost certainly was the sound of gears slipping --took place. I can only assume that the sunroof froze shut and still hadn't dried out several days later, even though I park underground. The mechanism did not have the good sense to stop trying. I am sure it would have rolled up the roof like a tin can if it could. "Deiter, do you think ve need more torque on zat motor?"
Now, my sunroof is, how do you say? totally effed. I got it shut by playing with the **** and I will get it fixed properly next time I am in the dealership.
Two questions:
- Has anyone else encountered his?
- And, don't they have winter in the Fatherland? didn't they learn anything from the Russian campaign?

(to be fair, except for this, the car has been ***amazing*** on snow and ice)

Thanks for the warning.
To be fair to the Fatherland, not too many people would venture to open sunroof when it's freezing cold. It may be done on purpose as well (like if child is stuck in the opening the motor will try with all torque it's got to open it).
